Who’s That Girl? Meet Filipina Pop Group La Diva

Complex’s new weekly feature “Who’s That Girl?” spotlights an up-and-coming woman we’ve got our eye on.
If you caught the fight this weekend, we’re pretty sure you got a glimpse of these girls too. Audiences got to pre-game with the Filipina trio, La Diva, comprised of former Pinoy Pop Superstars (the Filipino equivalent of American Idol) as they gave their rendition of “Lupang Hinirang,” the national anthem of the Philippines. Since signing with GMA records, the group’s had non-stop exposure on GMA tv, one of the leading television networks in their country. With the girls fresh-off-the-boat here in America, we decided to co-sign and showcase what the Philippines apparently already can’t get enough of. Watch 5 clips and get familiar with La Diva below…
CHANNELING ANOTHER “DIVA” WITH THEIR COVER OF “SINGLE LADIES” (2009)
• In the Philippines, variety shows are what you need to hit up if you want any semblance of success. So, La Diva did their rendition of Ms. Knowles’ hit on GMA’s SOP Rules.

SINGING A “STRIPPED DOWN” VERSION OF “STAND UP FOR LOVE” (2009)
• During one of their first appearances in the U.S., the group sings an a cappella version of a single off their new album for fans and press at their meet-and-greet in Las Vegas.

REPPIN’ GMA TV IN THIS NETWORK COMMERCIAL (2009)
• Under GMA records, the trio has gotten immense exposure. So in this commercial, they return the favor to their founding network.

LENDING THEIR VOICES TO THE ROSALINDA THEME SONG “AY AMOR” (2008)
• This is one of two telenovela theme songs the girls hold down; the other being “Ikaw ang Pag-Ibig” for the show Ang Babaeng Hinugot sa Aking Tadyang. Say that three times fast.

BECOMING THE NEW PRIDE OF THEIR COUNTRY WITH THE FILIPINO NATIONAL ANTHEM (2009)
• Dressed in the colors of their flag, the group came out to the States to support a fellow Filipino heavyweight, Manny Pacquiao, prior to his historic T.K.O of Miguel Cotto on Saturday night.
