This Friday, August 14th, marks Pakistan’s 62nd year as an Independent state free from the United Kingdom. But if you watched CNN, Fox News or MSNBC (maybe BBC) you wouldn’t know that due to all the turmoil that’s been plaguing the Muslim-majority nation—US missile strikes, Taliban militant attacks, etc.
But, whatever, we don’t want to air the country’s dirty laundry at time when Pakistanis are celebrating everything that’s great about their nation. CLAIM TO FAME: Dubbed the “Muslim Madonna”, this Punjabi singer, composer and human rights activist came under fire from Muslims for her provocative style of dress and her supposed negative influence on young Muslim women. These are lovely photos. But, don’t forget even for a minute that these young women put themselves in jeopardy in their country by posing for these photos. By Western standards these are very modest pictures, but some in Pakistan would stone these girls for posing for them. Education is the key to sexual freedom in the East.
