Of the 4 remaining matchups, this one in particular is the most intriguing because of Kanye and Pharrell’s fashion influence on the rest of the Hip-Hop world. Pharrell introduced A Bathing Ape (Bape) to the masses, while Kanye made it cool to wear slim-fit clothing.

It never occurred to me that the Fresh Prince could make it this far in the competition. But then I thought about it. Will epitomized what it was to be fresh to death in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Will’s style from back then continues to heavily influence design and trends in modern street wear clothing. Brands like Lemar & Dauley try to design clothes that Will would have rocked back in 1991. Even today, cats continue to swagger jack the hi-top fade era Will Smith. Rappers like the Cool Kids make it their full-time job to emulate the Fresh Prince’s throwback swagger.

Pharrell hands down should have this crown. Not from votes but from a historical standpoint. Kanye didn’t have 2 legs to stand on to feed his addiction for couture when Pharrell was killing it in the Shake ya ass video. In fact, if people knew their history. It wasn’t until after Kanye had the accident that threw him into his style infamy. He had an epiphany to become the world’s best dressed rapper. A story that premiered on the very pages of this magazine. Circa 2004? Either way. Pharrell sets trends, and single handedly carved his own niche in the streetwear scene, I don’t see anyone emulating that Travolta look Kanye brought, and Pastelle will never hit as Hard as BBC. Those are just facts.
