Burton U.S. Open 2009 Photos by Peter Ruprecht

Each Spring, right around St. Patrick’s Day, Burton throws its annual “Who’s Who” of snowboarding and plays host to the U.S. Open at Stratton, Vermont. The festivities went down this past Saturday and Sunday, and photographer Peter Ruprecht was there to document it all.
Danny Kass took first place in this year’s halfpipe event, making him the first individual ever to take home five U.S. Open halfpipe championships. He broke the record of four, formerly held by Terje Haakonsen. This past Saturday was an awesome display of snowboarding and sun, so check the jump for Ruprecht’s photos and know that you’ve got about two and a half weeks before all the snow is gone. Get out there!

Even the girls go hard. Women’s champion Elena Hight took third place, rocking a Volcom snowboard (?)
