The Acela (Washington->New York->Boston) is something of a joke sometimes. Often late, often slow due to traffic congestion along the 400+ mile length having to share right of way with commuter rail. The food car service is an even worse joke.

Interesting overview of high-speed rail systems. Surprisingly, however, it omitted the Shanghai Transrapid mag-lev, which has been in operation since about 2004.

Worldwide Hydrogen Super Highways project is a joke. Lets keep it simple and use electrically powered trains built by companies that can stay in business.
