Jadakiss Is Familiar With Maison Martin Margiela

We're used to fashionista rappers like Lupe Fiasco, and Kanye West name-checking high-end designers in their raps, but Jadakiss shouting out Martin Margiela? Something seems to be off-tilt there. In his new ballad to the hoodrats ladies, Mr. Raspy spits “Such a smart fella/ to recognize the Maison Martin Margielas/What could I tell her?” It's pretty surprising that Jada known for baggy jeans and shit-kickers is bragging about his knowledge about the Belgian-based fashion designer.

Although we can't quiz Kiss on how familiar he really is with the low-profile designer, we're willing to bet he wouldn't be able to pick our Margiela's threads out of a line-up. Margiela who refuses to be photographed got his start by becoming part of the “Antwerp Six” an exclusive fashion set that includes Dries van Noten, Ann Demeulemeester, and Walter Van Beirendonck. He also was a part of Jean-Paul Gaultier's design squad back in 1984. Most recently, there's been rumors that Margiela is looking to leave his own design house and is searching for a successor, with Raf Simmons being the fashion biz’s first choice.
