Mickey Factz Talks Supras & Electronica Influences

mickeyfactz3.jpg
Mickey Factz: At the end of the day true fashionistas know Mickey Factz is synonymous with Supras. I got ridiculed and I got made fun of. 'Oh he's a hipster rapper 'cause he's wearing gold sneakers.' Lil Wayne puts them on and everyone goes crazy.

Complex: Do you expect that though?

Mickey Factz: I actually didn't. We made the Supra song right when we came back from China, we were just bugging out and it just so happens that the only sneaker I was wearing at the time were Supras.

Complex: What's been the response from their reps?

Mickey Factz: I'm in touch with them all the time. We're looking at a little extra sponsorship with them, 'cause at this point, we put them on the map, as far as hip-hop and urban communities (there's no doubt about that).

Complex: You have Kanye, who's trying to put out the first rap signature shoe through Nike. What's the hold up with your own signature Supra?

Mickey Factz: Before they gave the sneakers to Wayne, they were saying they didn't want a hip-hop artist to take hold of Supras because they wanted it to be a skate brand. At the end of the day, you can't deny the situation. When Sean Price with Heltah Skeltah calls you and asks where can he get a pair of Supras, at that point, I deserve to get my own sneaker. Heltah Skeltah, they from the '90's'Timbs, Nikes, Carhartt, rough, rugged. When Price calls me and asks me where to buy Supras, things have to change.

Complex: [Laughs] What?

Mickey Factz: Dru-Ha who owns Duck Down called me and asked me if I wanted to perform with Heltah Skeltah in Philly and I said, “I couldn't do it'it's too short notice.” So then Sean Price calls, and before he can even say anything, (because these guys are menacing), I'm like, “Yo, I can't make it out there, shit is crazy right now.” And he was like, “No, don't worry about it, I called you about Supras.” He wound up buying three pairs of Supras that day.

Complex: Rappers don't tend to have the best taste in rock and electronica. Would you ever do a record with Coldplay?

Mickey Factz: If Chris Martin wanted to produce a record for me, yeah. It would just have to be hot. I'm not going to run around bragging 'Yo, I did a record with Coldplay,' that's not something to brag about. I think Coldplay makes great timeless music but I don't think bragging about doing the record with them is the greatest thing ever, so…

Complex: Okay.

Mickey Factz: Or Daft Punk for that matter.

Its funny because Mickey Factz aint wear Supras til the Gold joints he wore on the back 2 the future mix tape cover.
And the only reason he probably wore them was because he felt Jay-z made them acceptable by wearin them in the Umbrella video, when truth be told those werent even Supras to begin with.
And yo for the record Supras aint cool doggy. Them shits is bootleg Diors makin them the equivalent to Steve Madden knockoffs…..OWWWWW
