Bloodhound SSC To Break Land Speed Record

While the Bugatti Veyron and the Koenigsegg CCX duke it out for the title of world’s fastest production car, England’s Science Minister Lord Drayson is once again attempting to build the car that will break the world land speed record. The current record of 760mph was set by British driver Andy Green in 1997 using the ThrustSSC, which was built by engineer Richard Noble. Looking to shatter the 760mph record, Drayson tapped the same engineer to build the BloodhoundSSC with the goal of hitting 1,000mph.
The Bloodhound SCC (Super Sonic Car), which will also be piloted by Andy Green, will be drastically different from the record setting Thrust. The Bloodhound will utilize a Eurojet EJ200 jet engine as well as a hybrid turbo engine to reach that 1000mph goal. It also implements new aerodynamic features like the minimized cross-sectional area to weaken the drag and the newly designed rear wheel covers. Check out more photos and a video of the Bloodhound SSC below…

Go for it! Where will this attempt be held?>>>>>>Just curious. How much “lift” does bending the air cause? I can’t help but notice the turbine is lower than the intake. I realize the hybrid is above, I’m sure this helps. However it seems that disturbing the air flow could cause some loss in performance. Does this make a difference? Good luck! This record will be HUGE!!!!!!
