‘Blindness’ Is Worth A Look

blindness_lead2.jpg
Ayo! Scott doesn’t think very highly of humanity, which is perfect, because it allows him to treat people like shit and still get eight to nine hours of sleep a night. But if he needed a film to strengthen his resolve to be an asshole, director Fernando Meirelles’s Blindness would be that…

Adapted from José Saramago’s novel, the slickly shot dramatic thriller tells the story of a group of people who are infected by a virus that causes people to go blind, then forcibly quarantined in an abandoned sanitarium as the government attempts to prevent the collapse of civilization. A lone woman who has retained her sight (Julianne Moore) and snuck in with her husband (Mark Ruffalo) attempts to aid him and the rest of the ward’s panicked prisoners, but eventually the greedy desire for self-preservation and power leads to a Lord of the Flies breakdown of the afflicted and all sorts of physical and mental cruelty. So, next time you find yourself feeling sorry for a blind person, just do like Ayo! and remember: This dirty blind mufucka is dying to starve, rape, and shoot me! Check the trailer below…
