Retail Spotlight: Bblessing

bblessinglead.jpg
Although it’s only been around a couple years, this quirky men’s boutique in the Lower East Side (pronounced “blessing”) has made its mark due to its trippy, drugged-out interior design and well-stocked selection of understated, cool clothes. The space was designed by Daniel Jackson, one of the founders of art collective Surface To Air, who was inspired by turn-of-the-century absinthe bars…

The perfectly edited boutique carries labels such as Patrik Ervell, Surface to Air, Opening Ceremony, Raf Simons, and their own in-house label, Bblessing. The moody, dark interior often plays host to in-store art installations and they stock CDs, books, and DVDs that are artsy and obscure enough to impress the hot hipster chick you’re trying to score. They also dropped their own Daniel Jackson-designed line of absinthe spoons, which is perfect timing now that the green liquor is legal in the states. Greeting you at the front entrance (and continuing with the contraband theme) is a chandelier constructed solely of glass crack pipes. Make sure you hit this spot next time you’re in the LES. See another shot of the store and the cracked-out chandelier below.
