The Streets Walks It Out In ‘The Escapist’
If you don’t know by now, The Streets (a.k.a. Mike Skinner) is the type of musician who likes to take the road less traveled. The Brit’s off-beat observational style of rapping, blended with his own brew of hip-hop meets electro production, has made for three solid albums that were unlike any other.
But after an album full of Skinner’s struggles with fame, he’s taking a decidedly different approach on his fourth release, Everything Is Borrowed'his goal was to make an album where he doesn’t make any references to “modern life,” which has always been his focus. The album’s first clip for the single “The Escapist” also takes a totally new approach to the music video format, following Skinner as he walks alone all the way from London to Paris.
