Child Murderer Seeks Redemption In ‘Boy A’

A lot of fucked up acts are forgivable and forgettable, but brutally murdering a child isn’t one of them (that’s why Ayo! Scott never leaves evidence to link him to the crime). Boy A, which premiered on British television in November 2007 and hits U.S. theaters today, deals with one young man’s struggle to find life after death…
Jack Burridge (Andrew Garfield) is released from prison at age 24 after serving time for a murder he and a friend committed when they were boys. His development has been arrested by institutionalization, but with a new identity and the help of his fatherly parole officer/social worker Terry (Peter Mullan) he attempts to make up for lost time (finally get his dick wet) and start over again. Though he proves to be a good person, not everyone is content to let “Boy A,” as he was known during his trial, escape the past.
A suspenseful, beautiful, and thought-provoking drama, Boy A is a great alternative to summer blockbusters. Plus it provides a great argument if you’re ever seeking forgiveness for, say, banging your girlfriend’s cousin: “Hey, at least I didn’t kill any kids.”
