TAG Heuer Presents The Meridiist Phone

Recently, a number of high end brands like Prada and Ferrari have slapped their name on otherwise normal cell phones and sold ‘em at a premium. But a few companies, like Nokia’s high end off shoot Vertu, raised the bar with handmade phones made from premium materials like titanium, sapphire crystals, 18 karat gold and leather. Now, luxury watch maker TAG Heuer is looking to cash in on the luxe phone market with the Meridiist.
Developed for over three years, the Meridiist sports a scratch resistant sapphire crystal screen and a solid steel body with the option to throw on leather or any other material. But despite all the exotic materials and handmade craftsmanship, the Meridiist is years behind in the technology dept. For $5,420, you only get a 1.9 QVGA screen, a 2 megapixel camera, bluetooth and a digital clock at the top of the phone (Get it? They’re a watch company!). Good thing the people they’re marketing this to just want what normal folks can’t get. After the jump, see more photos and a behind the scenes video.
