Brand Profile: Manik Skateboards

Since the death of Kurt Cobain, Seattle hasn’t had much presence on the national pop culture landscape. Luckily skateboarding has emerged as one of the city’s thriving cultures, led in no small part by a company known as Manik.
Started by Eric Green, Marshall “Stack” Reid, and Nin Truong in 2002, Manik started supplying riders with graphic decks, which would later spawn their line of photography and art-inspired T-shirts. Last year, for their annual artist of residence program, photographer Charles Peterson recaptured the iconic imagery of Kurt Cobain in his bad boy heyday on a line of skate decks and tees.
