Toyota’s Prius Goes Topless

Nothing says summer better than a drop top. Regardless of whether it’s a Mazda Miata or a Mercedes CLK, riding around with the roof missing is the preferred way to roll during the warm weather months. But if the $4 a gallon gas prices make you want to leave your whip in the garage this season, maybe you should trade it in for Newport Convertible Engineering’s Toyota Prius convertible.
Already well known for beheading everything from Chrysler 300s to Hummer H2s, the California based company decided to add some green to their stable by turning the five door hatchback hybrid to a four door convertible using a five-bow design that borrows some parts for the Toyota Solara convertible. NCE assures that the $12,500 conversion doesn’t add any net weight to the Prius and allows the car to keep its structural integrity, so it’ll feel like it came straight off the lot. See more flicks after the jump.
That has to be the worst looking modification to any car ever
