Spiderwebs Fixed With The Power Of Art

web5.jpg
In Spiderman 2, Spidey had major problems with his ability to spin webs. His impotent powers had him shooting blanks, leaving gaping holes where his webs used to be (which subsequently led to his short-lived retirement). Photographer/sculptor Nina Katchadourian is the answer to every (real) spider’s woes with the introduction of her handy-dandy web repair kit.

The California native created the Mended Spiderweb series in June 1998, when she physically sewed together the fragile spider dwellings with just some simple thread and glue. She documented the delicate process with some examples of her aiding the insects. Unfortunately, some of the spiders rejected her adjustments. Look out for some of Nina’s other works on display in San Diego this summer then see the details of the web repair after the jump.
