Japan’s pop art master Takashi Murakami was a stranger to hip-hop until Kanye West brought brought his vibrant blobs to their attention on the cover of Graduation. Before that, Murakami worked with Louis Vuitton on designing a line of colorful monogram handbags that would later be knocked off by every bootlegger from Bed Stuy to Bankok.

That same LV connection brings Kanye and Murakami together again for the pre-show this weekend celebrating the opening of Murakami’s exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum. The Louis Vuitton Don’s special performance will focus on the copyright infringement that plagues the luxury brand. After the jump, take a look at a preview of the Murakami’s Brooklyn Museum show.
