Sling Madness

sling_1.jpg
Technological breakthroughs happen so fast that even a couple of years ago can feel like a distant memory. Like, bust—the first two frantic days of March Madness are around the corner (March 20 and 21), meaning two long work days stuck in a cubicle without access to a TV to watch dozens of first-round games. Back, back, back in the day, your ass was either playing hooky or taking a stupid long lunch break to watch the games. Back, back in the day, you could sit in your cubicle and get score updates via your web browser. And back in the day, like last year, you could try your luck procuring a watchable live stream, which is probably less rewarding than scrambled porn. I mean, shit, you can still squeeze a nut off scrambled porn.

Well, this year, you can say, fuck all the dumb shit. Yeah, say it with me. With the Slingbox, which you’ve already read about in Complex (Feb/Mar Guide, p. 36), you can watch your home TV on any Internet-connected computer (or via cell phone with SlingPlayer Mobile). Seriously, Slingbox is one of the illest inventions ever—so ill, in fact, that you know the powers are trying to figure a way to dead it, sort of how they’re trying to fuck up TiVo. Until then, cop one immediately, set it up in time for March Madness, and watch your Cinderella upsets in peace. One.

  1. Can someone give me an idea whether or not I should go for a smart phone or just use a more stylish phone and wait for some better technology? I am on the Sprint network, and was referred to http://www.sanyowireless.com, but I’m not seeing any options that look like smart phones. I don’t need an MP3 player or a camera, I’d rather have a phone that is lighter and easier to carry. Any recommendations would be welcome.
