‘Hope’ You Can Xerox

Although we’ve been quite supportive of the creative community’s embracing of presidential hopeful Barack Obama, recently highlighting the works of the Date Farmers and The Mac, we just can’t co-sign Shepard Fairey’s copy and paste contributions to the cause. As if the poster and subsequent billboards weren’t bad enough, ‘Hope’ and ‘Progress’ are now being emblazoned on t-shirts too. They’re selling for $25 a pop and will be retailed through Obama merchandise mart Upper Playground. Besides the fact that he tends to bite, Shepard often doesn’t even know why and that’s as troublesome as unregistered Obama supporters who can’t name one good reason why they’d back the young senator besides his charm. While some of you might think we’re being a tad too harsh, let’s just say that when a gossipy website like Gawker can pull of a Shep even better than the man himself, you know the creative underclass is raging, and not by making t-shirts.

damn. this guys not even qualified to be president. he was an iowa state senator for 8 yrs and refused to vote on over 100 issues. we need to stop giving him a free ride to the white house just because hes black.

like a Marc Ecko owned company has any room to call people out on biting.
think people didn’t catch the Seventh Letter and Rebel 8 ripoffs that Ecko did?

props to shane for that comment cuz its so true. But honestly Im a black man and I try to hear all of the negative imput on Barack to dull my love for him due only to the fact that we are the same colour. The fact that Barack is not yet totally seasoned for his job is a valid one, but to say he is a beloved candidate only for the fact that he is black is slight bullshit. Listening to him gives you that warm fuzzy feeling like we can actually pull through and come out as a strong America and civilization. But honestly they are all just words, and until the elections that is all we have to go on

Anyone who thinks you have to be seasoned to be a president needs to take a long look at the president you’ve had for the LAST 8 YEARS. How’s THAT for seasoning?
