- Spreading the word: Prodigy of Mobb Deep fame should have started serving time, but a Manhattan judge postponed his incarceration for another 5 weeks to assess the rapper’s sickle cell anemia. In semi-related news, it was announced that his new album, H.N.I. C Part 2, will be released worldwide and highlighted by some special new linguistic technology. “I’ll be the first hip hop artist to release a record that’s converted into foreign languages using the Voxonic voice conversion technology. The technology they use is a great opportunity for me to keep supplying my fans around the world with music to hold them down while I’m away,” said Prodigy.
- Sounding off: Barack Obama might not have lost the New Hampshire primary last night, but he could win over some fans with this, “I gotta admit – lately I’ve been listening to a lot of Jay-Z. This new American Gangster album is [good]. Kanye, I like. I enjoy some of the newer stuff. Honestly, I love the art of Hip-Hop. I don’t always love the message of Hip-Hop.”
- Sick Shady: While you people were out partying and opening presents with the fam, Eminem was sick as a dog. Says his publicist, “Over the holidays, Marshall Mathers, aka Eminem, was under doctor’s care at a Detroit-area hospital for complications due to pneumonia.” He’s recovering at home. Oh, and the gossip scavengers over at TMZ say he’s fat now too.
- Once bitten, twice shy: DMX quits Sony gets down with new label. And he’s happy about its canine orientation. “You don’t make the same mistake twice. I already made the mistake with Def Jam thinking they had good people in the office. The shit was supposed to be different. Not! God bless whoever’s over there, but I’m good where I’m at. Bodog, it already has ‘dog’ in the name. What more can I ask for?”
