If you’re headed down to Miami for Art Basel and the other half a dozen or so smaller art fairs, make sure you stop by and check out Walter Robinson’s work. The Catharine Clark Gallery is showcasing a handful of their artists as part of the PULSE Miami Art Fair and Robinson is one of our favorites of the bunch. He’s a sculptor who like to poke holes in pop cultural icons any chance he gets, like this “Pyramid (Abu Gharib Minnies)” piece, featuring Disney’s favorite female vermin. Although we’re usually not too keen on artsy farsty language, we like this description of his work:

Walter Robinson creates sculptural installations that deliver slick candy coated indictments of popular culture, sometimes further emboldened with tactile resin coated surfaces, glitter and cheap gems.

Check out this mini gallery of his work, including a stalwart Bart Simpson on a horse or his Damien Hirst-like “Cephalogo (Superman)” piece featuring the iconic man of steel’s logo embedded in a human skull.

  1. Interesting, Walter!

Why not share a link and some photos with former classmates?
