‘Fruit Stripe’ Vespa
Matching your outfit is one thing, but rocking gear that coordinates with your moped might be going a bit too far. Highlighting their continual slip into irrelevance, the Gap designed these limited edition “Crazy Stripe” LX 50 Vespas that make us think of two things: Paul Smith & Fruit Stripe gum. The 50CC scooter is painted in the colorways of the clothier’s latest crop of winter scarves, sweaters, gloves, and other mall brand paraphernalia. Setting aside the obvious emasculation involved in riding a two wheeler that’s not a motorcycle, the feminine color palette doesn’t help any. Of course the hardest part to swallow is the price, with the “Crazy Stripe” selling for $5,999 which is $2800 more than the standard cost of $3199.

Marcus Garvey? Shouldn’t you be in the Harlem Renaissance inciting black people to move to Africa? Or at the very least starting Rastafari.
