If you’re in the NYC area tonight and are looking to chalk up some authentic graffiti art and give to a good cause, head over to ‘The Walls Belong To Us’ art benefit for Alan Maridueña aka KET at the 55DSL store in Manhattan. He’s that graffiti writer-aficionado-publisher who was facing a whole lot of jail time and felony counts for vandalism, even though he was never caught in the act. To make a long story short, he pleaded guilty to avoid imprisonment but still faces mounting legal bills (lawyers don’t come cheap when they get you get out of this much trouble.) and fines. In an act of solidarity, scores of graffiti artists, photographers, and “street artists” have donated work with all proceeds benefiting KET’s legal fund. You can view and bid on the auction online and select pieces will be sold onsite tonight. Although the open bar event is free there’s a suggested donation of $20. Jump for the official flyer and robust list of participating artists.
