Yeah, YRB isn’t going out of business because they DON’T PAY PEOPLE! A fly on a piece of shit has more integrity, style and class than they could ever hope for. I know a lot of Photographers, East and West Coast, whom they owe a lot of money too. And that guy Sami, never finished the Evolution process. I have personally seen Doug Shinglton tossed out of two YRB issue release parties for aggressively hitting on straight guys and being wasted out of his mind.I mean tossed out on the street. He also has large man tits. He is a sloppy pig who couldn’t get a job anywhere else in the industry. As for David Ishay, the publisher, he is a lying, two-timing imbicil with less knowledge of the industry he is part of than a vegetarian knows about cooking pork go back to making night gowns for Syrian women, bitch. PS - David Ishay has giant man tits as well.

I used to work at yrb when I was young and stupid. Although I was not there long I had enough. It is sooo out of date and lame. Anybody working at yrb probably cannot get a job anywhere else bc why else would you work for no money. The publisher is a spoiled brat taking his families money. He is sooo cheap. Was that whole “named after Sin City” thing mentioned before or after the film became a hit?

I only ask because, well, that’s not the name of the storyline. It’s “THAT YELLOW BASTARD,” not Yellow Rat Bastard.

Seems to me that the guy wasn’t familiar enough with the story to remember it’s NAME, much less like it enough to name his store after it. Maybe just an opportunity to cash in on a popular film?

I personally like Complex, YRB and URB along with the products that they sell. I read all three when I can find the time to.

To whoever wrote this entry: You have to be careful with these kind of subjective and insulting stories about your rivals because they tend to take away from your own credibility more than it hurts theirs. A perfect example is The Source magazine back when Benzino was in charge…

Still, I didn’t come by here to trash the author. I had never even heard of TopShop until today, so the entry was informative…plus it’s helping pass the time until 5:00!

Wow,

I want to thank the blog author of this posting for the free publicity. I would offer the readers clarification that your site claims the store was passed on several times, and then finally chosen. The reality is that Yellow Rat Bastard is a landmark and one of the last few original retailers that created the SOHO Shopping environment. Yellow Rat Bastard was able to stay in higher rent market because of huge amount of traffic that the store receives. The store is so successful that Marc Ecko, the designer of interior of YRB store and creator of the store name via Frank Miller comic series, Sin City; still uses the magazine and the retail locations to market all of his products, as do his licensee partners with products that carry his name.

If your writer deems the magazine and the store to be nauseating, then he must deem Marc and his brands in the same light.

Please join us when the new Yellow Rat Bastard store opens in the coming months in its new location in SOHO. Please read an upcoming story in YRB magazine that follow the transition of how a small retail store grew into multi location chain, and created the first of its’ kind magalogue that products like Complex and Lucky were able to learn and be created because of.

Also they might wish to congratulate the owners of the store for building a strong retail community that they have been able sell their lease.

HEHEHE I should thank Complex for the free publicity..I work at YRB Magazine. What some people dont understand, is that Mark Ecko inspired and designed and still utilizes Yellow Rat Bastard and YRB magazine to expand his business empire via Yellow Rat Bastard retail and YRB magazine. If he and his magazine think that our properties are “nauseating” then that would qualify his brands to be that of the same nature. THANKS COMPLEX XOXO

My man Ray shoutin it out. Wow. That’s deep. Definitely have a right to your opinion. Me…I don’t actually have an opinion because I’m not followin all that closely. But I will say that my man, Geo Hagan, who works for YRB also writes for me on StarStyle’s blog. So, just for friendships sake, I’d like to see Geo employed somewhere, cause he’s a good guy at the end of the day, despite what people might think of the overall magazine. I don’t think he had anything to do with the logo. I can see why you’d be pissed. Somebody registered Net-Mix, but I don’t sweat it cause he’s not in the same game as URB and YRB are.
