Rap Sheet: Nas Upping the Ante for Controversial Album Name

• Wording: First Nas claims his new album will be called Nigga. Def Jam denied that claim and said there’s no new LP even planned for Nas. But Esco doesn’t surrender nor retreat and says don’t believe what you’ve heard. In fact he’s going with the same sounding album name but going with the highly charged “er” version of the word instead.

• Gossiping about “Gossip”: We’re totally feeling this Lil Wayne track, and we don’t see it as a diss to 50 at all. If it is, Wayne better bring it a lot harder than that.

• Blind sided: The dude who Diddy tuned up, Steven Acevedo, claims he was sucker punched by the rap mogul and didn’t even see it coming.

• Lucky number 7: One of the illest emcees still in the game, Rakim, is going on tour to crack open the The Seventh Seal, his new album bearing all sorts of theological and philosophical references.
