aNYthing Countersuing A-Ron for $5 Million

Last week we mentioned that A-Ron was suing his own company for trademark infringement and now the legal drama surrounding the aNYthing case continues to bubble over as we just received word that silver spooner Kiernan Costello—current controversial owner of aNYthing—is now countersuing A-Ron for the humongous sum of $5 million. No, seriously, that’s a five with six zeros. The suit basically alleges that the “Don” broke all sorts of contractual agreements when things went south. The document is 40 pages long and discusses everything about the case and its far reaching implications even mentioning: retail accounts (Situation Normal, Union, Goods, etc..), websites like Splay, rock band The Virgins, the 205 Club, and a whole cast of characters and interesting tidbits. We poured through the massive document—which BTW, is a great case study for streetwear brands and entrepreneurs in general—and pulled out the highlights of the case and present them, just how you like it, in snippet form, and after the jump.

lol hipsters are as broke as the rest of us. only this bitch a-ron is supposed to be in new york’s elite and was getting his bills paid like a college bitch sucking off an exec for rent money

I thought this was a fashion- culture blog. Your a prime example of a typical fake ass who has no idea of what hip-hop is all about.
You’d get smacked for this type of shit in the hood. Mind your business, quit putting bullshit like this up. Your becoming like those TV shows talking about the latest drama. Quit being a little bitch and get back to culture.

Doesn’t everyone realize, that THIS business, like ALL businesses, is run on the power of relationships. What A-ron says, goes. If he says the brand is dead, it’s dead.
Come on Keirnan and crew…..stop beating the dead horse. Jump off the Titanic before you drown!!! You’re already embarrassing yourselves beyond repair. The old Glob is a pathetic poseurfest. I feel sorry for you and your five million dollar (hahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!) fight for NOTHING. Sad sad sad.

All y’all missin the plot, the real plot. Y’all should stop brown nosing your selves in other brotha’s bizznezz and turn the mitrror on your selves..I wonder what it would look like if we got a glimpse of the woodworks behind the Complex/Ecko empire..there’s dirt in all corners…We’ve got to do better..How much mud we have to go thru to find the real diamonds..Little is know by any one but the spiritual man, who has in his heart a touchstone of vital truth. The others hovering between two opinions, just fly towards their base on a single wing. Knowledge has two wings, opinion only one wing; opinion is weak and lopsided in its flight.
The bird having but one wing quickly drops down, and again flies two steps or more. This bird of opinion goes on rising and falling on one wing in hope to reach his home base. When he escapes from opinion and knowledge is seen, this bird gains two wings and spreads both of them. Afterwards he goes upright and on a straight path, not grovelling on his face or creeping, free of opinion, duplicity, and of vain talk. He relapses not into opinion at their ill talks, nor is he vexed at their hate. he would not relapse one bit into vain imaginations, nor would he be grieved by the critisism of his haters.
Be free and fly high.

Let’s not forget, this is just one side of the story.

The last time I checked aNYthing is a clothing company. That is why Complex is following this story. This event affects a clothing company that has a following. I’m pretty sure they want to know whats happening. Thank you Complex for showing us what goes on behind the scenes. I know this is only half of the story and only the people directly involved know the true nature of the event.
I don’t understand why there are negative comments about Complex. So far they have given an unbiased report on the story.

I agree with DINERO. I read this site in addition to other sites because I am a designer and plan to have my own line and business. This kind of information should be studied by anyone looking to have their own business (instead of working for somebody else or getting mom and dad to carry their loads…i’m looking at you negative commenters above. It’s good to know that deals and agreements and people change their minds all the time. They will try to get over on you. I have an idea from actually reading the above what happened in this csae, but more importantly, all you designers and biz peeps: be fair, be honest, and document everything!

Interesting…
You think Aron would have wrapped things up a little better in the begining. After a string of bad business relationships in the past, a water tight contract is a must. I guess for people who dont own a business or know this side of the industry, its all a little crazy to read this info, but remember its a counter sue, they are both feeling like they got burned, but not knowing all the facts, it hard to tell were things went sour.
One thing is true…that brand is over, you cant take out the main ingredient and expect things to maintain.
I think Aron’s not a very good businessman, he has lent his name to so many brands and movements, its starting to get a little thin when he tells you “this is it”…and he will find it very hard to connect with the right industry players from now on after a public slug match like this…he wont find it easy to get things off the ground…aNYthing was a throw agains Supreme, now Off Bowery is a throw against aNYthing…uggly pattern starting to show.
