Wearable Airbag Reduces Risk of Death By Motorcycle5:00 pm | Tuesday, October 16th, 2007

This is an ingenious idea and we’re not surprised that this wearable airbag is a product of Japanese technology and design. Originally designed as a safety vest for construction workers in Japan, it has been adapted into the ‘Impact Jacket’ that can save your ass:
[M]aryland motorcyclist Joseph McPhatter was the first (involuntary) rider to use the jacket in a crash, as he flew 100 feet through the air and hit the pavement at an estimated speed of 140 miles per hour. His injuries were minor.
Question is, will this turn motorcyclists into even bigger thrill seekers and speed junkies than most of them already are? Probably! If you knew you could cheat death, chances are you’re going even more balls to the wall than ever before.
