Rap Sheet: Lupe’s Fiasco!

- Bite your tongue: Screwing up a verse is one thing, but trashing the ‘Tribe’ is just sacrilege. Could it get any worse for Lupe Fiasco? Yes, he actually said this: “MC Hammer was way more popular to me than Tribe Called Quest.”
- Mo’ money, mo’ problems: Diddy adds another lawsuit to his long list of legal problems. A promoter at NYC hotspot, The Box, claimed the rap mogul’s bodyguards beat him down.
- Off the team: Although it’s not 100% confirmed, word on the street is that Joe Budden is done making records for Def Jam. Still no word on if it was forced or voluntary.
- Marching on: Internet rap celebrity turned Interscope artist Soulja Boy may not be recruiting real music lovers, but does he care? He has thousands of MySpace friends, isn’t that what really counts?

The future doesn’t always imitate the past, but the present has to be mindful of the past to properly contextualize and develop itself into a fully-valid future.
Tribe should be MOST venerated – but still – we need some electric relaxation on this even if this situation is kinda like if LeBron never watching Jordan drop 50 on the Knicks…
Let’s let art speak of art.
Let The Cool settle the score on its own artistic merit?
But seriously, if you’re even just a fan of hip-hop, not to mention a conscious-minded MC, Midnight Marauders is kinda like one of the ten commandments…

Soulja Boy…posterboy for a new generation of ringtone hit loving zombies.
The new slogan of the Rap Game should be: Rap: No rhyming necessary.
