Burton Opens Chicago Flagship

Burton Store Chicago
Burton sticks a flag in the Second City with the opening of 8,000-square feet of retail space in downtown Chicago today. The store marks the fifth addition to a worldwide armada of flagship stores operating in Burlington, New York City, Innsbruck, and Tokyo. Jake Burton will be on hand to properly kick off the event along with a bevy of his pro riders including Molly Aguirre, Danny Davis, Elena Hight, Jeremy Jones, Hannah Teter and Keir Dillon. If you don’t have time to swing by the store, located at 56 E. Walton St., or simply have a childish devotion to skiing, hit up the after party at Sound-Bar featuring DJ Steve Aoki and Pase Rock.

Peep the official invite and more photos after the jump.

The Burton store will carry the full line of Gravis kicks.

Burton Store Chicago Boardroom

Jake Burton credits the evolution of the snowboard with the creation of the “Snurfer” (basically a pair of skis tied together with rope) in the Midwest during the 1960s. Dirty hippies, turns out they were good for something.
