STRANGEco Hacks the Mainframe
The ‘Purveyors of the Peculiar’ sought out graphic design artist Dean Bradley to hatch Mainframe, his twisted and evil axe-wielding computer. Its got a monitor for a head, a CPU unit as a torso, a keyboard for one hand, and all the twisted wires and cables to boot:
Created in 2002, Mainframe is an exploration about our delicate relationship with technology. Begun as a series of paintings, the image and concept of Mainframe took root and spread rapidly across the globe.
And now this warped computer has come to life in the form of an 8-inch rotocast figure available in three colorways: Orange (400 pcs), “Duck Season” Camouflage (500 pcs) and Hi-Gloss White (200 pcs). The artist explains his aggressive inspiration for this horrific line of supercomputer, “I was spending a lot of time in front of my computer. I felt like the computer was a part of me. I realized there was a conflict within, a struggle between nature and technology.” Ain’t that the truth? We’re stuck to our computer like they’re pacemakers. Dropping in October.
