SWINDL Swindles ‘Swindle’

better.jpg
Here’s proof positive that the streetwear game is chock-full of swagger jackers. Maybe these SWINDL gals didn’t get the memo? Keep in mind, we’re not even huge fans of Shepard Fairey or his artsy-fartsy Swindle magazine, but c’mon, they did name their publication years before you geniuses in Brooklyn hatched this t-shirt line. How in the hell are you going to launch a brand, in the same arena sort of speak, with basically the same name? And it’s not like they’ve had this idea sitting idle for a few years:

SWNDL was first established as “Swindel Designs, Ltd.” in April 2007 serving as a business platform for creative work. An abbreviation of the word swindle, the name is a direct reflection of their outlook: a collective of young city talent out to get theirs. Combining a love for Brooklyn and popular sensibility they form to work on various projects mainly their own street wear apparel line. With a mix of business and art backgrounds, they’re committed to pushing only well directed ideas, products and visuals…

Wow guys. That’s ground breaking. Especially considering that Swindle magazine has basically been doing the same shit, years before ya’ll even made your first screen print. Sure the girl’s hot, but at this point, you’re only swindling yourselves. What’s next, a mens streetwear brand called Complex?

  1. Yeah the name is less than innovative but the shirts are cute when there is less of a selection for street she-snobs.
