Sisley’s ‘Fashioin Junkie’ Ads Are Powderfull

Ah Sisley. In case you never heard of it, just think of it as the naughtier and faddish offshoot of Benetton. They also are notorious for making some pretty “controversial” ads. There’s that Terry Richardson shoot where the model is drinking cow milk straight out the udder. Then you’ve got the man hand ominously grabbing the breast. And now there’s the ‘Fashioin Junkie’ campaign and they ain’t holding back this time either (see the higher res version here). In this new ad you’ve got spaced-the-f#ck-out ski bunnies sniffing what you think is coke at first glance. But, being that it’s “fashion,” and it’s not really supposed to make sense, we can’t help but to notice the girls are snorting the wrong pile. Shouldn’t these be blasting the perfectly good mound near the Chase Mastercard? Guaranteed, if they did, the one on the right would be looking a lot better. We don’t know what’s in that dress, but fashionistas better stay away from it, shit’s deadly.

I think their intended idea was ‘Clothes as addicting as Heroin” thereby spelling Fashion ‘Fashioin.”
Not that great of an ad, not to mention I’ve actually seen the same idea done before.

Statement on a fake Sisley campaign
20 July, 2007
In the recent days, images which are told to be part of the new Sisley advertising campaign have been published in internet.
One of these images shows some girls “sniffing a vest”. The allusion to drugs and alcohol is more than clear. We would like to clearly state that the Sisley brand (and the Benetton company) has nothing to do with these images and therefore we refuse to be linked with them.
Please also note that these images infringe Benetton’s rights in the Sisley trademark. Our Legal Department has therefore been retained to take all advisable actions to protect the company’s rights and interests.
The next Sisley campaign will instead have a very special testimonial, Stephanie Seymour, worldwide recognized as an icon of fashion and beauty.
