‘Tennis Girl’ Is A Smash
We’ve never been huge fans of tennis, but have always been suckers for those cute little skirt-shorts the ladies wear. Even more so, when they go commando, as shown in this infamously popular poster known simply as ‘Tennis Girl.’ It apparently was a huge hit in the 1970’s, and sold over 2 million copies. Well, what’s old is new again, and the poster is back, this time being sold as a limited edition canvas print for about $600 a pop. The photo was snapped by Martin Elliott back in 1976 and it features his then 18 year-old girlfriend Fiona Butler. Ironically, she couldn’t even play tennis and they even borrowed the racquet and balls for the photo shoot.

This image was used on a Royal Air Force flight safety poster with the caption ‘Don’t Assume - Check’ and was displayed in engineers and pilots crew rooms as a cheerful reminder to never assume anything when it came to aircraft safety. Sadly do to the current climate of political correctness this could not be displayed today in any government organisation.
