The American (Apparel) Dream1:05 pm | Wednesday, January 10th, 2007

As you might have heard, American Apparel founder Dov Charney, cashed out his sweat-shop free toting brand for $382.5 million. But worry not fellas, that in no way means the scantily clad women and pervy ads will be phased out anytime soon as you can plainly see from this new Stirrup Socks advertisement scanned by the Copyranter and featured on the back cover of the Village Voice. We’ve actually heard that Dov will remain on board for a while garnering himself a fat salary and ensuring at least a whole year of sleazy ads that we’ll gladly ogle.

Um, Actually the company is going public, and Dov will own a controlling majority. He will receive a salary for the next three years of a dollar a year. He didn’t “cash out”, the company just used a blank check aquisition as a quick and dirty way to an IPO.
I’m sure that American Apparel will remain sleazy for some time to come!
