The grand daddy of skateboard magazines, Thrasher, commemorates their 25th anniversary by posting the first 12 issues of the now famous magazine online. Issue 1 dropped in January of 1981 and was basically created by a bunch of San Francisco skaters who showcased features such as “Semi Secret Spots” and the riders who skate them and “In Street, Today.” Click through this debut issue which sold for $1, and check out some of the old school skate ads, contests, and downhill racing. It's a great snapshot of not only skate culture but America circa 1981. If the online ain’t enough to satisfy your thirst for bone breaking images and stories, head over to Amazon and grab the book, “Skate and Destroy,” that documents the last 25 years of the mag in print. via BoingBoing
