Gourmet’s really making it easy to like its brand. Not only has the price of its footwear come down a lot, the designs the Italian-trio are cranking out keep getting more and more impressive with each seasonal drop. Yesterday, Gourmet leaked its Spring 2010 Collection on its site yesterday, but this Quindici (which means 15 in Italian) model slipped through the cracks. The one-tone canvas sneaker was one of our favorites, and at $90 it’s a no brainer. Look for the new collection to hit retailers like Commonwealth, DQM, Concepts, and Huf in a few weeks.
Today, hip-hop’s resident Martian, Lil’ Wayne, begins serving his year-long jail sentence. The rapper spent some of his final moments on UStream with teenage protégé Lil’ Twist last night, talking to fans. Weezy hit viewers with sound pre-prison advice like, “you don’t need ProActiv, you need pussy”, got a visit from Fat Joe, and a call from Complex cover star, Drake, all before peacing out in a Bugatti. His music will still own the radio and he’ll continue to make more money than us, but none of that is a substitute for freedom. As Birdman would say (and has probably said 100 times in the past few days): “hold ya head, Junya.”
Tune in to Complex.com every morning at 8 AM for your daily “Wake N’ Watch” video.
It was only a matter of time (i.e., mere hours after premiering) before creative types grabbed a hold of Google’s Super Bowl ad to remix their own subversive version. Well, we’d be remiss if we didn’t offer our own take. Enjoy.
WHY COMPLEX IS CO-SIGNING: Take a second and think about all the physical media you currently own. Now, think about how much of that is music. Now think about how much of that music has been digitally converted. We’re not psychic, but we’re willing to bet almost all of your music can be found on your computer. If we’re right, and that’s the case, why are you still buying traditional stereos to play your music collection in your crib? With all your music stashed on a internet enabled computer, leaving it all up in the proverbial cloud, you need something that can easily pull it down from the cloud and play it wherever you want it played. Sonos’ latest ZonePlayer, the S5 can do just that. And it can do it very well.
Few rappers have left a lyrical legacy as large as Big Pun. Yesterday marked the 10th Anniversary of Christopher Rios’ untimely death, and most MCs are still struggling to catch up a decade later. Damn near every song he recorded over his short career was filled with breathless wordplay and hilarious quotables, but there are definitely a few verses that come to mind as classic examples of Pun’s prowess. But is there one verse that stands out above the rest?
To answer this question, we put together a list of our 10 favorite Punisher verses. Listen to them all below then vote to decide the greatest Big Pun 16 of all time. Oh, and if we didn’t highlight your favorite verse, feel free to let us know in the comments…
Left To Right (clockwise): Gucci Mane, Rick Ross w/ Lil’ Wayne & Birdman, Erykah Badu, Big Pun, Lloyd Banks & Juelz Santana
