Knocking Off Canal Street

Men’s haberdashery Jack Spade has teamed up with baseball cap factory New Era and created this super limited edition collabo. It’s an extension of Spade’s “Chinatown Collection,” a “wry commentary on knockoffs,” that was showcased last February and which Marc Jacobs recently ripped off on behalf of Louis Vuitton. The hat will only be available this Saturday, November 4th at Barney’s in NYC during their Artisan Day event, where they invite a select number of brands to customize their wares and sell exclusive items that are interspersed throughout the store. Better get up to 59th street early cause there will only be 50 available and they’ll sell for around $60. NYC based art collective Peg Leg will also be on hand screening an original short about Canal Street, the official epicenter of all things knocked off. Ironically, we wonder how long it will take before this hat in turn gets counterfeited and finds itself a home in a basement boutique back in Chinatown, thereby completing this fashionably vicious circle.

You guys think if it was an all-over-print jack spade pattern that he would appreciate and maybe put it next to the 10Deep lid on his site. Toy.
