Nike hit up their boys in Japan to help play around with this special material called "nylon." The West-coast warriors hollered back by producing Nike's first nylon sneaker, which offered a lightweight and more flexible silhouette. In the end Nike split from their Japanese partner, and took the "Nylon Cortez" name just like Jay did Dame.
