Everyone knows that beach naps are some of the best naps, and Lituania-based photographer Tadao Cern has the photographic evidence to prove it. In his series “Comfort Zone,” Cern captures beach nappers in their glory, sprawled out against the warm sand, mouths agape, with skimpy swimwear  creeping up their nethers (men seem to be bigger offenders than women). Some have books and magazines askew across their faces as if they were suddenly so overcome by slumber that their arms dropped like suitcases filled with lead to the ground. Beach naps, Cern has discovered, are something we all have in common—here, scantily clad and deeply asnooze, we are all just alike.

“During our everyday life we attempt to hide our deficiencies, both physical and psychological. However, once we find ourselves on a beach, we forget about everything and start acting in a completely different manner,” says Cern.

Beach naps are as real as it gets.
