Who run the world? Switzerland, believe it or not. Everyone knows that as a country they are pretty wealthy and that they gave us army knives and cool watches, but as far as tech and design goes, Switzerland is still pushing the envelope of innovation and cranking out some pretty cool stuff. At the Institute for Dynamic Systems and Control, a team designed and built a box known as the Cubli.

The 15-inch cube contains "reaction wheels" on three sides that spin at high velocities and stop very fast, causing the cube to flip up. By controlling the speed at which each wheel spins, the Cubli can be made to stand perfectly still on one of its corners, fall in any direction, and walk across a surface. The project was completed some time in 2012, but the video below was recently posted online. It explains the mechanics of the Cubli and demonstrates its awesome abilities.
