Beginning with black-and-white historical snapshots, Dana Keller breathes new life into the past by adding color to the old photos. Her subjects range from political figures like, Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King Jr., to sports icons, like Babe Ruth, to film stars, like Audrey Hepburn.

"Coloring them helps remove that barrier between the past and our modern eyes, drawing us a little bit closer to the reality in which the photo was taken," Heller writes on her Facebook History in Color.

At times, black-and white photos allow us to remain detached from the historical moments that they capture. By colorizing the old shots, Keller reminds us that the photographic subjects once breathed the same air that we do.
