Georgia State is a large university spread out over the city of Atlanta. Due to the urban setting, the non-cohesive plan, and the lack of a central campus, the school sees a lot of crime from the surrounding city area. Some students have gone so far as to refer to the school as a glorified high school. The unwelcoming surroundings are enhanced by the campus' overbearing and unfriendly architecture. Many of the buildings, like Library North and South Library, lack adequate windows, adding to the prison-like atmosphere of the school.
