5. Choose a color palette.
Graphics are only impressive if they're good. A handy rule of thumb is to have a color palette and not stray from it. This will also help your résumé feel more unified less busy.
When you're thinking about a color palette, choose a text color and then two (or maybe three) other colors for the graphics and background. Too many colors can make your résumé cluttered and illegible.
Sidebar: We highly suggest avoiding anything neon. You want to stand out, but no one is going to hire the guy with the résumé that looks like a rave flyer.
