Knit the Bridge Pittsburgh is a community-led project that involves yarn-bombing the bridges of the city (of which there are around 446) with colorful art installations that won't damage the surfaces being bombed and are easily removable. To coincide with the celebration of what would have been Andy Warhol's 85 birthday, KtB yarn-bombed the Andy Warhol Bridge (previously known as the Seventh Street Bridge) with over 600 hand-knit blankets made with contributions from over 1800 artists. The blankets will remain on the bridge until September 7, with volunteers monitoring the condition of the blankets three times a day and passersby asked to call the KtB hotline to report any damage. For more photos and information about the project, visit the Knit the Bridge website.
