Despite Efforts, Southbank Centre Skatepark Relocation Plan Moves Forward

Back in April we learned about the plans to relocate the iconic "Undercroft" Southbank Centre skatepark to make room for the construction of The Festival Wing. At the time, there was a Facebook page set up along with a petition to save the 40 year old piece of skating history. Despite the 41,000 signatures and a letter from skate legend Tony Hawk, construction plans are moving forward and proposals have been submitted to the district of Lambeth's planning department.

Things aren't looking good but the skating community refuses to give up. There is an event scheduled this weekend (June 8-9) to raise awareness and help save the park.
