Artist Thomas Broomé Creates Drawings Using Only Words and Letters

We may often conceptualize that drawing is to pictures as writing is to words. Swedist artist Thomas Broomé challenges this notion in his series of illustrations that uses only text to render images. In a way, the artist seems to merely label the individual parts of a room with their commonly referred names. In another sense, he leads viewers to question what we are gazing upon and how we recognize their form. While doors are depicted as a cluster of the text "DOOR", walls and paintings are expressed in similar ways. Broomé's technique is not only a visual surprise, but also a way of realizing how we address and understand our surrounding world.
