Ivor Prickett Photographs the Disputable Grandeur of Kurdistan

In the Kurdish region in northern Iraq, tourists are able to enjoy luxury five-star hotels and shopping malls. Photographer Ivor Prickett provides a look into these places of recreation and commerce, while also shedding light on the unseen tension between the area and Baghdad. Oil and gas money are the source of the region's booming development, but dispute over the same resource leaves a threat to the land as troops remain in a standoff near the Kurdish border. Currently, the Kurdish region's security and attractions have earned its capital city, Erbil, to be named the 2014 Arab Council on Tourism's place to visit.
