Artist Kelvin Okafor Creates Pencil Drawings That Your Mind Can't Erase

We're all used to the idea of high-quality, hand-drawn images, and we already understand that pencil drawings can have enough detail to resemble the quality of photographs. Still, the work of UK-based artist Kelvin Okafor is striking on a new level. The British artist works with graphite pencil and charcoal to create extremely elaborate portraits of celebrities and personal acquaintances alike, adding a new affinity to the portraits.

Okafor explains that each of his works takes an average of 80 to 100 hours to complete. He says, "I draw in sections. I’m right-handed so I work from left to right. After I’ve finished the left eye, I work the nostrils, then the left side of the cheek, then the lips. I always work in that order."
