Day Job: Furniture Fabricator and Lighting Designer

Before Tom Sachs became known for his sculptures, he learned the word "knolling" from his days working in Frank Gehry's furniture shop in L.A. After moving to New York, he participated in installing lighting displays for Barneys New York, including the 1994 Christmas project Hello Kitty Nativity.
