Oscar De La Renta Curates Exhibition at Queen Sofia Spanish Institute in NYC

Famed fashion designer Oscar De La Renta has curated a new exhibition at New York’s Queen Sofia Spanish Institute celebrating the legacy of late couturier, Mariano Fortuny y Madrazo. From 1906 to 1946, Fortuny dressed iconic women from Marchesa Casati and Isadora Duncan to Peggy Guggenheim and Gloria Vanderbilt. He came from an artistic family and was trained as a painter, yet he chose to pursue fashion. The exhibition contains his dresses in addition to paintings, lithographs, and photographs.

Visit Fortuny y Madrazo: An Artistic Legacy at the Queen Sophia Spanish Institute now through March 30, 2012.
